Leadership: Why is it lonely at the top?

During a recent Leadership Speaking event, Kirk Dando talked about the adage –  it’s lonely at the top.

You hear the adage it’s lonely at the top.

It’s not lonely because you are so special. Or so lonely because no one can hang with you.

It’s lonely because will be judged in a vacuum. Your decisions will be judged out of context.

If you wait for the problems to show up in the results, you are no longer leading. If you’re doing that, that’s just obvious.

It’s your job as a leader to make decisions before they show up in results. It’s one of the hardest things you’ll have to do as a leader.

If you don’t, it’s what I see take super successful companies down.

That’s why you hear, it’s lonely at the top.
